A look into the communities of non-conforming (NC) identities that interest me, and the expansiveness of the queer label. I spend a lot of my time observing and interacting with communities many NC/queer people really don’t want to interact with - if it’s an identity on a Tumblr DNI, I’ve probably looked into it. I will preface that my rants on here have very little to do with my personal opinions on stuff so shut up and be a nerd with me

What counts as a non-conforming identity?

Any identity that challenges social norms. This often pertains to queer, neurodivergent, disabled, and any marginalised communities that have identities or views outside of the norm. I’ll be focusing on the things that interest me, so a lot of internet-homed communities and ‘radical’ identities

[I will not be referring much to scientific studies, I’ll only include them for some niche identities as more of a show of their growing acknowledgement in science, and as something to look at out of curiosity - this is why:

Why you shouldn’t need science to validate someone’s identity

Also yes I site carrds and community content. Info on how a community explains their own terms is more important than what wikipedia says, fight me]
